Mashed potatoes

The much popular mashed potatoes is the ideal companion for many dishes. Mashed potatoes are so easy to prepare that amazes me, I am not wise to understand, why lyophilisated bags are so popular. Indeed to complete this recipe would take less than 10 minutes, specially if we take care to cut the potatoes in small dices that would cook much more faster. Someone should explain me how much time do we gain by using those pre-cooked bags.

INGREDIENTS:

3 / 4 potatoes medium sized
Two tablespoons milk
Salt

We boil peeled potatoes in water. If we are short in time we cut potato in dices and boil in enough water just to cover. When we nail easily a fork in the potato would mean the potato is cooked. We move the boiled potatoes to the pot of the blender along with half a cup of the cooking water, two tablespoons of milk and salt. We crush the mixture and the result should be thick, with no extra water. If unfortunately the result is too wet you can cook a bit till water evaporates. In the other hand if the result is too thick you can add either a bit of water of the cooking or milk. .

You can also add a bit of sweet paprika for flavor and color, or even create a bicolor mashed potatoe alternating white and tomatoe colored strips in order to make it more attractive to children. Using a simple sleeve pastry we can create nice accompaniments that helps us a lot to create attractive presentations of the course. Or grate some cheese on the mashed potatoe or anything your imagination could create to make it better.
