Rice with Milk

INGREDIENTS:

½ liter of semi skimmed milk (around 2 pints)
50 grams of rice (aprox 0.11 lb)
50 grams sugar (aprox 0.11 lb)
1 lemon peel
1 branch of cinnamon
Cinnamon powder


We peel the lemon to get a strip of skin taking care not to catch the white part of the same as it is bitter. Hence the peeling will be slightly transparent. Add cinnamon branch to the milk and we heat while stirring until it boils. Watch the milk will not overflow and when there is risk this happens immediately reduce the fire. Add rice and sugar, stirring constantly so they do not stick to the bottom. Occasionally try some grain of rice to check that it is getting soft. When the rice is done remove from fire and let stand until gets cooler. Then we will poud the content in small containers for individual take or in large bowl. We place at the refrigerator. When rice is cold is ready for consumption by adding a bit of cinnamon powder over the surface.


Some people likes to eat rice with milk hot, but we have to warn it becomes really heavy.
