Homemade Panko
Panko is nothing more than the usual breadcrumbs in Japanese cuisine and is made exclusively with the white crumb of the bread, not with the crust. In Japan it is common to find panko in any supermarket but in the West it can be a problem. Is it worth making panko recipes? Panko produces crispier batters with less oil absorption and is therefore healthier in principle.
We can make panko in a simple way, if you cannot find it in your usual stores we will use sliced bread.
INGREDIENTS :
- 10 slices of sliced bread
Remove the edge of the loaf. Cut the white crumb into pieces and put them in the grinder. We give two or three hits, so that it is not too small.
Preheat the oven to 90 degrees (190 f) and put the crumbs on a baking paper. We leave for 10 minutes to dry well (making sure they remain white, not golden).
And we already have panko for our oriental batters.
