American Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Pie, a typical dessert from the United States, is the traditional recipe enjoyed during this time and on Thanksgiving. So, if you buy pumpkins with the intention of decorating them, you can scoop out all the pulp and, instead of throwing it away, make this pie.

INGREDIENTS:

For the pie crust:

- One and a half cups of crushed cinnamon cookies

- Half a cup of melted butter

For the pumpkin filling:

- 500 grams (about 15 ounces, approximately 1 3/4 cups) of pumpkin puree

- Two-thirds cup of sugar (about 150 grams)

- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

- Half a teaspoon of ground ginger

- A quarter teaspoon of ground cloves

- A quarter teaspoon of ground nutmeg

- Half a teaspoon of salt

- Two large eggs

- One cup (200 ml) of heavy cream

- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

2. Lightly grease a 20 cm (9-inch) pie dish.

3. In a bowl, mix the crushed cinnamon cookies and melted butter until well combined.

4. Press the cookie mixture onto the bottom of the pie dish to create a uniform crust.

5. In a large bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.

6. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

7. Incorporate the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and mix until the filling is smooth and uniform.

8. Pour the pumpkin filling mixture over the cookie crust in the pie dish, and then place it in the oven.

9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the pie is firm in the center and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

10. Allow the pie to cool in the dish for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a rack to cool completely.

11. Once it's completely cooled, you can refrigerate it before serving if you prefer it cold, although it's also commonly enjoyed at room temperature.

It's often served with whipped cream or ice cream. It's really delicious!
