Thanksgiving Mashed Potatoes

Here's a classic Mashed Potatoes recipe as prepared in many American homes for Thanksgiving. You can use it as side dish.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 5 pounds potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold), peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

1. Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold, salted water.

2. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-high and simmer until the potatoes are fork-tender, usually 15-20 minutes.

3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Let them sit for a minute to allow excess moisture to evaporate.

4. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a ricer for a smoother consistency.

5. Add the softened butter to the mashed potatoes and continue to mash, allowing the butter to melt and incorporate.

6. Gradually pour in the warm milk while continuing to mash until you reach your desired creamy consistency.

7. Season the mashed potatoes with salt and pepper to taste. Be sure to taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.

8. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish.

9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

10. Serve the mashed potatoes warm as a delightful side dish for your Thanksgiving meal.

Enjoy your creamy and flavorful Mashed Potatoes!
