French dressing
A very common dressing for (almost) any type of salad
INGREDIENTS :
- Half a cup (100 ml) of mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon and a half of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple or white wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon strong French mustard
- Half a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce (essential, without it it is not French dressing)
- 1 pinch of onion powder
- 1 pinch of minced garlic
- 1 pinch of salt
- Two or three drops of Tabasco sauce
Mix all the ingredients well, ensuring that the sugar is well dissolved. We keep in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours and ready to be used. In moderation, yes, it is quite caloric.
The term "french dressing" is used in many cuisines but with different acceptances. In some countries they refer to a clear vinaigrette. The recipe that I have given you is rather a sauce that could be used to dip chicken fingers, nuggets, vegetables or, more properly, to bathe the salad in moderation.
